Leinster, Ireland and Lions Fullback, Rob Kearney has become an integral part of Irish rugby since 2005.

The Louth native was a member of the 2007 RBS 6 Nations squad but did not win his first cap until the summer tour to Argentina later that year. Kearney continued to impress for Leinster in both the Magners League and Heineken Cup making his 6 Nations debut against Italy in 2008. He went on to appear in each of the games, turning in some eye catching performances. Kearney also played the two summer tests that year against New Zealand and Australia again excelling and cementing his place in the full back position.

In the November 2008 test series he played against Canada, Argentina and New Zealand scoring twice against the Canadians. The following year he was an integral part in Ireland’s grand slam winning team featuring in all five games. That year also produced a Heineken cup win for Leinster.

Since then Rob has continued to develop as a player, featuring in two tests for the Lions and helping Ireland see out 2009 unbeaten.

2010 may not have yielded any silver wear for the now renowned Fullback, but regular game time in the 15 shirt for both Ireland and Leinster have helped his personal development as a player and despite injury in November 2010, 2011 still holds much opportunity with a Heineken cup 1/4 and and the prospect of a World Cup in the Autumn to look forward to.
